Making Christmas Magical

After the chaos of 2020 that seemed to drag on, it’s crazy to look back over this last year and see how quickly it went by! The Holidays are already here and New Year is just around the corner! This time of year, it’s easy to find ourselves rushing around; getting the tree and decorations up, trying to check off the Christmas list, finalize the guest list and dinner plans. Oh! And don’t forget that last minute gift!

We are so busy, that it’s easy to forget the important things- what makes Christmas so special. We’ve asked our each of our staff to share one way that they try to make the Holidays memorable. Instead of rushing around, let’s reflect on some things that can remind us how to make this Holiday one to remember!

Precious Time with Family - One of the main reasons we take time off of work and school during the holiday season is to rest and spend time with family. Instead of focusing on all the things that need to be done, spend time making memories with loved ones! Time goes by so fast, so make the most of your time with friends, family, neighbors, and anyone that is special in your life. - Faith, Front Office

Slowing Down - It’s true; we all wait until the last minute to mail out Christmas cards, decorate, or even to buy gifts! When it comes down to the week before Christmas, we see more of people running around, grabbing things, and cutting people off in the streets. Just remember, this is supposed to be a magical time of year. Take the extra time to plan ahead; make a shopping route, plan out the menu, come up with a backup plan, and while you’re out, remember to let that person over- things that make your life- and others’ - less stressful during this time. - Trang, Office Manager

Making Traditions - There are so many ways to make the Holidays special and one of these is to start traditions! Grab an Elf on the Shelf, get a special ornament that represents major events of the year, have your kids make Christmas cookies, go see Christmas lights - the options are endless! Think of fun things to make Christmas a special and exciting time of year that your and your loved ones look forward to year after year! - Cinthia, RDA

Reflecting on Life - The end of the year is a great time to reflect. Look back over this past year or your life. Journal highlights and make a list of things that you’re thankful for. If there are areas that you wish you could change, make a list of things that you would like to do differently next year. This not only helps us to stay grateful, but it motivates us to be better versions of ourselves. - Christa, Insurance & Billing

Giving Back - It’s so easy to get wrapped up (no pun intended!) in the commercialism of Christmas. We think we have to give gifts to everyone and some look forward to receiving gifts! There is nothing wrong with that! Giving is a huge part of the magic of Christmas, but let’s not forget that some are not as fortunate during the Holidays. Use this time to find ways to give back to others! Volunteer at a local organization. Donate to a local food pantry, toy drive or clothing drive. Pick up a Christmas card and make cookies for the neighbor who has no family to celebrate with. Make a care kit and hand it out to the homeless. Spread the joy of Christmas during this Holiday season! - Elyse, RDH

Being Kind - Finally, let’s remember that Christmas is not always a joyful holiday for everyone. It can be a hard time for people who have lost loved ones or had traumatic events during this time. While you are out and about, just remember that you don’t know what someone is going through. Make the effort to be extra kind to others in the shopping line, in traffic, and in general. Being kind is a gift that never stops giving! - Dr. Levy Do

So, don’t forget the meaning of Christmas during this busy time! Stop, take a breath, remember what makes the Holidays so special. We hope our ideas will help you to find ways to make Christmas special for you and for others!

Merry Christmas!!
